Switzerland vignette validity and fines
When does it activate?
- The e-vignette becomes valid as soon as payment is confirmed and the plate is registered.
- The annual vignette is valid for 14 months — from 1 December of the previous year to 31 January of the following year.
What if you're caught?
- 1.Roadside checks verify the plate or sticker.
- 2.The authorities can issue a fine and require a valid vignette before onward travel.
- 3.Unpaid fines can escalate through Swiss administrative enforcement.
